-Why
EAC?
EAC stands
for EXACT AUDIO COPY.
EAC is considered to be the best audio ripper around.
Ripping with EAC in "secure mode" is a rule of thumb among
serious audio traders.
Secure mode will provide error detection and correction with verified
results, preventing pops and clicks.
At the end
of the audio extraction, EAC creates a .log file that contains all the
details of the extraction.
That file will be the proof that the extraction went error-free.
If you rip in secure mode and the resulting .log file states that "no
errors occured",
then you can be sure everything is fine.
Other rippers won't let you know if an error occured.
With EAC you know exactly what's going on with your rips.
And
of course, EAC is free. Download
EAC
Before
configuring EAC.
-Insert
an audio cd in the drive you'll use for extraction.
-When you first launch EAC , you'll have to let the program auto-detect
the best settings for your drive.
Select the drive you'll use for extraction and just follow the steps.
-We don't need mp3! That's why you don't need to install the lame.exe
mp3 encoder, untick the box and click "Next". (However if
you're EVER going to rip to mp3, please use lame, dont use any other
mp3 encoder.
Lame is the only mp3 encoder that allows gapless mp3 playback.)
-Enter an email address so you can use the database option.
-Select the use of EAC in expert mode.
.: EAC CONFIGURATION :.
Eac configuration is very easy. Just 3 steps.
1-EAC
OPTIONS
Select the options just like in the screenshots.
Leave the rest as it is.

This is a common filenaming scheme: %D - %C - %N - %T Feel free to choose your own.
2-DRIVE OPTIONS
A
little window named "Information" appears. Its function is
only to encourage ripping in secure mode.
Once you've understood the importance of secure ripping, just untick
the "Show this info next time" box.
Select the options just like in the screenshot.
3-COMPRESSION
OPTIONS
You
can use EAC to rip to wav first and then compressing to ape or flac
with either:
the Monkey's Audio Frontend or the FLAC Frontend.
Or
you can rip to flac or ape straight from EAC.
In order to rip to ape or flac straight from EAC, you need to have
the Monkey's Audio frontend and the FLAC frontend the already installed.
-FLAC
compression settings:
Select "User defined encoder" -> change extension to .flac
-> locate flac.exe in your FLAC Frontend install folder
-> copy and paste the following command line:
-8 -V %s
(this command uses Flac's best compression level, level 8...and nevermind
the bit rate, it has no effect)

-APE
compression settings:
Select Monkey's Audio Lossless encoder -> locate MAC.exe inside your
Monkey's Audio Install folder -> just leave the previous command
line there, it won't affect the .ape encoding -> select High Lossless
Compression
.:
LET'S RIP :.
DATABASE
Search the database in order to let it automatically name your tracks,
artist, and cd title.
ACTION
You
can rip to separate tracks or to image+cuesheet.
Some prefer separate tracks, some prefer image+cuesheet.

Note:
There's a small bug in EAC when creating a Flac image+cuesheet.
The bug consists in the image having a double flac extension (.flac.flac)
and the cuesheet having a ".flac.cue" extension.
Just rename the ".flac.flac" image to ".flac" and
the ".flac.cue" cuesheet to ".cue " and you'll be
fine. No big deal.
Ape image+cuesheet works perfectly, no such bug.
Enjoy your EXACT AUDIO COPY in lossless format! :)
